I still have another 6 months to pass.but I feel confident this time the only thing that will be breaking is the curse of the 1 yr replacement. It has not discolored or stained in anyway so far. After breaking my second glass french press (they seem to have a 1 yr lifespan with me).it was time to consider a plastic "unbreakable" version. I have had my unbreakable press for almost 6 months and I use it daily. I run it in the dishwasher and the coffee comes out as good as my glass presses did.
I ordered this product thinking this was as the description says; "Bonjour Hugo 3-cup Unbreakable French Press".Although I agree, it is indeed made of a durable plastic; the carafe can be barely called a single cup. I measured the actual amount of water it can hold, and I was able to get 12 ounces with a 1/4 inch to spare under the brim. This french press is in no way shape or form is a 3-cup french.I wish I didn't buy it, and / or I wish Amazon will offer me a real 3-cup french press that makes (3) 8-ounce cups of coffee.
REGARDING THE COFFEE PREPARATION: make sure to put the ground coffee in first, then water, then stir and set the plunger on top. The larger size (the 8-cup) makes about 32 oz, which is an equivalent of about 3 small mugs of coffee. REGARDING THE BONJOUR HUGO PRESS SIZE: the 3-cup press is really an individual size. One on the plunger, and the other one on the lid, to cover the spout. BTW: my favourite brand of coffee is Illy. The coffee is strong and fragrant. Once you have tried press made coffee, you will not go back to the drip.
Still, given the affordable price, I think a years' worth of daily use allows me to get my money's worth. DO NOT push the plunger down until you are ready to pour. Use coffee that has been ground coarsely. Make sure that before you pour your lid filter is aligned with the spout, or you will have problem pouring. REGARDING THE BONJOUR HUGO "UNBREAKABILITY": I use the press daily, and I put it in the dishwasher almost daily (on the top shelf only). This particular press has two filters actually. Strong, but sweet.
I break the beaker about once a year.
The taste is rich and smoky.
It makes only 12 oz., which is PERFECT for me, as I drink only a small cup in the morning.
I have never broken the filter, but I am sure it is breakable as well.
ENJOY.
For over a decade now, I have been using French press exclusively for my morning coffee routine.
The size is also excellent for work environment.
Otherwise, some of it may get thru the filter.
If you are a coffee lover like me.Then this is a must have. The French make a bold, meen cup of coffee, just the way I like it.3 scoops of coffee with the scooper that it comes with and some hot water, stir with a spoon, then press down the grounds and pore.Add French vanilla creamer or a flaver you might like.
If you fill this coffee press to absolute capacity without coffee grounds it only holds 12 ounces. I'm not sure what constitutes 3 cups, but even if you use the 6 ounce cup common(not sure why) with coffee makers that adds up to 18 ounces. That's only 2 cups using the 6 ounce cup standard.Other than that, it works fine.
